As 2010 approaches my wife and I are deciding on which daily Bible reading plan we are going to use. I would encourage you to pick a plan for reading this year if you do not already have one. A plan is useful for a number of reasons. A plan allows you to read through the Bible in a year. It helps you keep track of where you are in the Bible. It also, and perhaps most important, eliminates the guess-work of your devotional time. Without a plan it is more difficult to sustain quality reading throughout the year. You will skip parts that seem uninteresting to you or difficult to understand. You may attempt to read cover to cover, but I know few people who are able to do this. Usually Leviticus wrecks their good intentions! Here are a few plans that I know of.
A good plan as it gives you 25 readings each month.
CAUTION! This is not for the faint of heart!
This page offers multiple plans, my favorite being the ESV Study Bible and Literary Study Bible plans.
This page offers several plans, some of which take you through the entire Bible, others are more topical and systematic.
Offers plans that allow you to snyc with your phone and computer. Lots of choices here!
This is the plan I am using for 2010. Arranged by genre for each of the seven days of the week. Looks great!
Pick a plan! Feel free to let me know which one you choose! Let us taste and see that the word is sweeter than honey and more to be desired than gold (Psalm 19:10)!
