When this happens, we can expect the worst from anyone, even Christians. I have no desire to pile onto Tiger more criticism and accusations. Tiger needs to realize that Jesus provides more than any amount of money, fame, women, power, and success can ever offer. Tiger needs to realize that he has placed himself at the center of the universe, a place only God is supposed to reside. Tiger needs to realize that getting his family, reputation, sponsors, fans, and golf game back is secondary to being reconciled with a holy God. Jesus Christ became sin so that His righteousness might be transferred to those who believe in Him thereby justifying them in God's sight.
Will you pray for Tiger today? Will you pray that God opens his eyes and grants him the gifts of faith and repentance? Will you plead with the Holy Spirit to send someone to him who will speak into his life about the good news of the grace of Christ, like John Smoltz who is a Christian and a friend of Tiger? Will you repent of being entertained by the latest news regarding his situation (sins)? Will you thank God for gracefully not allowing you to fall into the same sins and temptations as Tiger?
God is pleased when we pray for those in high positions and authority since he desires all people to be saved (1 Tim. 2:1-4). Let us ask God to do what we can't do, which is save, redeem, heal, ransom and justify those who are made in His image, like Tiger!
